Celebrating Volunteers’ Week

Did you know that it is Volunteers’ Week, an annual celebration of the fantastic contribution that millions of volunteers make across the UK, including at our Credit Union?

Volunteers’ Week takes place every year from 1st to 7th June and, along with many other organisations, the Credit Union is celebrating the work that volunteers do for our country.

Chief Executive of the Credit Union Martin Groombridge said: “Without out our wonderful volunteers, we would be unable to offer the high level of service we provide to our customers. Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Credit Union and we want to make sure they get the thanks and recognition they deserve.”

Volunteers’ Week is run by NCVO, which champions the voluntary sector in England, along with Volunteer Development Scotland, Volunteer Now (Northern Ireland) and Wales Council for Voluntary Action. From showcasing the different volunteering roles on offer, to volunteer recruitment events and campaigns, Volunteers’ Week helps to highlight the huge impact that volunteers make to our society.

At the Credit Union, we welcome friendly and outgoing volunteers who have experience of office administration, accounting or IT, to help us build our successful co-operative business. In return, there are a number of benefits such as formal and informal training, the chance to meet people and make new friends, gain direct work experience of the financial services industry, strengthen your CV and know that you are benefiting your community.

In addition, the Credit Union offers volunteer positions on our Board of Directors and our Supervisory Committee (internal audit), which are elected each year at the annual meeting of our members.
